Restaurants, cafes and bars

The streets around Lauderdale Mansions abound with stylish cafes, bars and fantastic places to eat.

At the eastern end of Lauderdale Road is the Gordon Ramsay-owned gastro pub the The Warrington Hotel. Said to be one of London's most beautiful pub buildings, it has a spectacular white stucco frontage and ornate Victorian interiors.

Meanwhile, at the western end of Lauderdale Road is Le Cochonnet, a hugely popular bistro-style wine bar and Italian restaurant, and round the corner at 79 Castellain Road, the New Taxin Thai restaurant.

Nearby in Formosa Street is another ornate Victorian pub, the Prince Alfred, famous for its five 'snugs', each with its own bar area and door onto the street, The snugs are separated by ornate wood panelled partitions, through which there are low access doors. Adjoining the pub is the lively upmarket Formosa Dining Rooms restaurant (European cuisine).
