The large garden behind Lauderdale Mansions South is completely secluded from the street, and is for the exclusive use of the residents.

Covering approximately 1.5 acres, the garden includes landscaped shrubbery and flower beds that have been designed to form some semi-private areas, a large lawn, a patio area and a meeting room.

Throughout the garden, which is south-facing, are benches and tables with seating, and in spring and summer residents use these for al-fresco dining, barbecues and small private parties.

There is no direct access to the garden from Lauderdale Road, making it a secure area for young children to play in.

The Lauderdale Mansions South garden backs onto two other large communal gardens belonging to Castellain Mansions (East) in Castellain Road, and the flats in Sutherland Avenue.
